In an Era of Denial

In an era of denial, we see so many people avoiding the truth. Historically this was a much more understandable trait given that people did not know nearly as much about the world around them as they do today. They treated the words of those above them as fact and had little regard to challenge an idea set out by existing institutions. It’s this same level of denial that saw Galileo jailed for his views on Copernican Heliocentrism and the idea that the earth revolved around the sun and not the other way around. The denial of an empirical truth for the sake of their own reality. One that is more palatable to a mind that may not understand a different way of thinking. This is still happening today, of course, however, in many cases, those involved have the ability to see the other side of the coin, yet simply don’t take a look. It was once widely believed the earth was flat. Since disproven by multiple accounts and physical evidence, we still see people holding onto the belief that the earth is truly flat. What else has humanity traditionally denied that may come to be seen in a new light?
